How We Verify

Every "works / limited / doesn't work" verdict on this site follows the same process. Here's exactly how we check, how often, and how you can keep us honest.

Our Testing Process

Each of the 99+ services in the directory goes through the same five-step check before it gets a status badge:

  1. Check the service's official availability page and terms for Morocco - coverage maps, supported countries, and any region restrictions.
  2. Test on the ground where possible. Our Morocco-based contributors try SIM cards, eSIMs, ATMs, ride-hailing and payment apps in real conditions - at the airport, in the medina, at point of sale.
  3. Cross-reference recent traveler reports from Reddit, travel forums, and traveler communities to catch changes we haven't hit ourselves.
  4. Resolve conflicts with AI-assisted research (including Claude by Anthropic) when sources disagree or information is hard to find.
  5. Assign one status - Works / Limited / Doesn't Work - and write a tourist-specific verdict, limitations, and alternatives based on real usage.

How Often We Re-Check

Services are re-verified on a rolling basis. The last checked date shown on every service card and detail page tells you exactly when that specific listing was last confirmed - it's not a site-wide "last updated" stamp. Fast-moving categories (SIM, money, transport) are re-checked more frequently than stable ones.

The most recent full directory sweep was completed in April 2026, with money and connectivity services re-verified again in June 2026.

What Triggers a Re-Check

A reader flagSomeone reports outdated info via the "Flag as outdated" link on a service card.
A provider changeA bank, network, or app announces new rules, coverage, or a Morocco launch/withdrawal.
Conflicting reportsTraveler reports start contradicting our current status.
Scheduled sweepThe listing reaches the top of our rolling re-verification queue.

Found Something Out of Date?

Help us keep it accurate. Every service card has a low-friction "⚑ Flag" link that opens a pre-filled email with the service name - just add what you found and send. You can also email contact@startmoroccotravel.com or use the contact page. Flagged listings jump the queue and get re-checked first.

Independence

No service pays to be listed and no status is for sale. Some links are affiliate links that help keep the directory free, but they never affect how a service is rated.
